My name is John Robert Mckay and I go by “Robert”. I am a visually impaired distance runner and rock climber.
I founded Breakaway Training in 2003 out of a desire to explore and share my understanding of health, fitness, and nutrition.

In 2014 I ran a Warrior Dash which is an obstacle course race. I was constantly playing in the mud, carrying heavy sandbags and buckets, climbing ropes and walls, crawling under barbed wire and pushing myself to my limits and even going passed them. It quickly became a hobby of mine and It was giving me a reason to stay active.
