I started running in 2006 after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Actually I had to start walking again because of the MS and then the walking turned into running. I have been running ever since, through all of my physical highs and lows. It helps me get a handle on the MS “Monster”. It also helps me be the wife and mother I want to be by giving me time to re-charge. Running, yoga, meditation, strength training and a healthy diet help me balance my mind, body and spirit.
I am part of three running groups and the support received there is like no other. One of these groups is for Sparrow’s Nest, a Hudson Valley NY charity that delivers two home cooked meals to local families receiving cancer treatment. These families are part of my community and I can’t think of a better way to help and support them. On behalf of these families, I will be running the Disney Wine and Dine in November 2015. This will be my third half marathon of 2015, fourth in total. My goal is to qualify and run the NYC Half Marathon in 2017.
