Healthy Back To School Lunches

Photo by Paula Hible It's that time of year again. The dreaded back-to-school. Before we can ask ourselves, "Where did summer go?" the to-dos have started piling up: doctors' appointments, medical forms, supplies and clothes shopping, PTA meetings, and healthy back to school lunches. We've rounded up a few of our favorite ideas for nutritious school lunches. Parents.com dietitian Sally Kuzemchak recommends using LaptopLunches' eco-friendly containers. We love the Power Pita:
  • 2 mini whole wheat pita pockets with grilled chicken strips and veggies
  • 3/4 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt with sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar snap peas
  • 8 animal crackers
Lisa Leake of 100DaysOfRealFood has the best ideas for kid friendly lunches (without using processed food or refined sugar!!). Lisa often shares her children's lunches on facebook and has a great post here. We'll be trying this one soon: Bread/fruit/cheese pinwheel kabobs, a mix of puffed brown rice cereal & sunflower seeds, and frozen peas/corn mix. healthy school lunches Photo by Lisa Leake What nutritious meals is everyone else packing for lunch?
