Spring Training Part 1: Planning for a Healthy, Successful Season

By Brian Klepacki Optimax Performance Training Spring training is finally here and I’m not referring to midday baseball games. From what I’ve heard, this past winter was brutal for most of America. Fortunately, like some of you, I have the privilege of living in Florida and this past winter was great! Regardless of where you live, spring is the perfect time to do some planning for your upcoming year. In this two-part series we will navigate through the process of planning by setting realistic goals for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. Being a strength and conditioning coach, I have an obligation of building athletes to become unstoppable. It is also my obligation to prevent injury and increase mobility. Far too often have I been introduced to athletes with a slew of problems because they were either overtraining, did not train correctly, weren’t properly developed or were simply working through their pain. All of these issues could have been avoided if the athlete was built from the ground up through the help of an educated coach.
